Description
What Remains of Edith Finch is a first-person adventure exploration game with no real puzzles nor inventory handling. The player controls Edith Finch, the last of the Finches in the family tree and the only one still alive. She returns to her grandmother's house on the island to find out more about her family's history. The player starts with a family tree sketch and as the story progresses Edith finds out what happened to each of her family members and how they died by reading through their letters, diaries, memoire or photo albums and slide stills. As Edith is reading letters that each of her family members have left, the player gets to experience that family member and play as him or her until the moment of their death. The game offers very limited exploration freedom and story unfolds in a linear manner by finding out what happened to each of Edith's predecessors in an exact order.
Review
★★★★☆

This game was mostly a walking simulator about exploration and finding information. Overall, it is a short, but memorable experience. The amount of details that went into creating the environment was amazing and the story played out very well. I could see myself playing this game again simply to enjoy the story and atmosphere again.
