2064: Read Only Memories

2064: Read Only Memories is a cyberpunk thriller that explores the social challenges of tomorrow through classic adventure gaming. A journalist-turned-detective teams up with Turing, the world’s first sapient machine, to unmask a conspiracy that will shake the foundations of Neo-San Francisco.

I love the humor and story telling in this game, but it was unfortunate how little game there was. It seemed a mesh between a visual novel and point and click, but there was little decision making and little challenge during the entire game. I loved much of the dialogue and interactions between the character and the voice acting was wonderfully done. The story was excellent, even though it was a tweak of the standard fear a rogue AI story. While there were few decisions to make, there were some obvious ones that made me wonder how the game would play out if I had made a difficult decision. Overall, I’d recommend this game for the story and not for the game play.
